Porcelain veneers attach to the front of your teeth to give you a healthy-looking and symmetrical smile. Dr. Gary Kinder has decades of experience with porcelain veneers at his Knoxville, TN, practice. He can provide stunning, completely natural-looking results that are customized to your specific goals. At the same time, his treatment is conservative. He will alter the natural structure of your teeth as little as possible. At Living Life Dentistry, Dr. Kinder will provide a complete consultation prior to veneers placement. He will determine your candidacy for the procedure and how best to achieve your goals. He will also explain our financing solutions that can help make your dream smile an easily affordable reality.
Are You a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?
If you are in good dental health, but you want to improve minor to moderate cosmetic flaws, you are probably a candidate for porcelain veneers. This treatment is an effective way to address:
- Small gaps between teeth
- Other forms of misalignment that do not affect the overall balance of your bite
- Misshapen teeth
- Abnormally small teeth
- Stains that do not respond to traditional teeth whitening
Dr. Kinder will need to remove some enamel to make room for the porcelain veneers. You usually cannot receive veneers on teeth with fillings. If veneers are not right for you, we can usually recommend an alternative cosmetic dentistry solution. Dental bonding is a popular procedure which is more conservative and affordable.

Step-by-Step Veneers Treatment
Dr. Kinder will provide a detailed consultation before treatment. He will inquire about your goals for treatment, and he will design your veneers specifically to meet those objectives. Among other things, he will consider the shape of your teeth, the color of your smile, and the contours of your gum line.
After this evaluation, he will prep your teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel, approximately half a millimeter thick. We provide anesthesia, so preparation involves very little discomfort. Next, Dr. Kinder will take impressions of your teeth, providing molds so the lab can create veneers with a precise fit. It will usually take one to two weeks for the ceramists to finish your veneers. We can provide temporary veneers in the meantime. When the veneers are back in our office, Dr. Kinder will gently etch the front of your teeth to foster a stronger bond. Then, after checking to make sure they fit correctly, he will attach the porcelain with an adhesive. A curing light will harden the adhesive. Once the veneer is in place, Dr. Kinder can make any changes necessary to achieve a comfortable bite.

Porcelain veneers are incredibly popular thanks to their many benefits:
- With veneers, you can improve your entire smile, addressing various cosmetic concerns all at once.
- Modern porcelain is durable and, with proper care, can last for years.
- This material is also slightly translucent, giving it a realistic sparkle that can blend with your dental enamel.
- The preparation process is conservative.
