The sooner your child starts visiting the dentist, the more likely they are to maintain a healthy oral regimen and keep their natural teeth long into adulthood.

What is Pediatric Dentistry?

As soon as your child starts developing teeth, you can begin bringing them to the dentist for regular checkups. Research has proven that children who visit the dentist at a young age are less likely to develop dental anxiety and phobia later on in life. It’s also important to begin teaching them a healthy oral regimen of brushing their teeth morning and night. Caring for your child’s baby teeth will help ensure that their adult teeth come in strong and healthy, and will help keep tooth decay from developing.

Research has proven that children who visit the dentist at a young age are less likely to develop dental anxiety and phobia later on in life.

At Living Life Dentistry, we provide x-rays, cleanings, and fluoride treatments during each dental checkup. We will also provide a child-sized toothbrush and educate your child on the appropriate way to brush his or her teeth. Dr. Kinder believes in teaching young patients proper oral hygiene techniques rather than relying on sealants to prevent cavities. Sealants have a limited lifespan, but proper brushing and flossing provide lifelong benefits. Our family-friendly staff can help make everyday activities, such as brushing teeth, a fun experience.

What to Expect During Your Child’s Exam

The moment you walk through our doors, a warm and friendly front office staff member will greet you and your family. We also provide beverages, books, magazines, and toys in our comfortable waiting room, and we have a saltwater fish tank that kids enjoy. To ensure both you and your child are comfortable during the examination, our staff can provide pillows and put on your child’s favorite movie and/or TV show in the exam room. We can even accommodate care for a child that prefers to sit in their parent’s lap.

During the examination, the hygienist will first take x-rays and then gently clean and polish your child’s teeth with special child-sized dental instruments that will fit comfortably in their mouth. They will also use a fun-flavored toothpaste and polisher to clean their teeth and administer a fun-flavored fluoride treatment to help prevent tooth decay from developing.

Once the cleaning and fluoride treatment is complete, Dr. Kinder will review the x-rays with you and check your child’s teeth and gums for any tooth decay or cavities. If tooth decay is detected, Dr. Kinder will provide tooth-colored fillings.
